In collaboration with The Latin American Music Center at Catholic University of America (lamc.cua.edu), the Mexican Cultural Institute is proud to present An Homage to Carlos Jiménez Mabarak. This concert will celebrate the hundredth anniversary of Mexican composer Carlos Jiménez Mabarak's birth featuring works by Blas Galindo, Silvestre Revueltas, Carlos Jiménez Mabarak and César Franck.
Carlos Jiménez Mabarak (1916-1994) was one of the most prolific Mexican composers of the 20th century. His music belongs to the transition from the Mexican nationalism to the avant-garde and his extensive catalogue of works encompasses all musical genres. The concert will be performed by LAMC students Enrique Reynosa (violinist) and Anna Nizhegoodtseva (pianist) with members of the Vitali String Quartet - Cynthia Saucedo (violinist), David Pedraza (violist), and Alan Saucedo (cellist).
