ABOUT THE ARTIST
Born in Brooklyn, raised in New York’s Washington Heights, Alex Riabov is a Washington DC-based indie-folk artist. His vision for his music is for people to — feel. For that is all we really have. A son of two Russian immigrant musicians, Alex was surrounded by his mother’s classical training and his father’s live jazz performances from an early age. A small apartment in the heart of upper Manhattan was home. It was here that Alex began to write music. Through guitar, piano, and voice, the artist uses vivid lyricism and sound to portray his personal experience and perception of identity and life as a son of immigrants in the United States. His performances aim to connect intimate stories to a broader audience experience and showcase that storytelling is still alive. The young artist performed in various places in New York, Washington DC, Paris, and St. Petersburg.
